Carson City Human Services released the numbers after completing nearly 1,800 voluntary tests for asymptomatic Quad-County residents.

Of the 1,798 tests administered, just one person tested positive for COVID-19.

“Having only one positive asymptomatic person shows how diligent our community was in regards to social distancing and staying home for the Quad Counties,” according to CCHS Public Information Officer Jessica Rapp. “As a region we have not seen a surge of cases.  The shutdown has kept the region from having a large surge in both cases and hospitalizations.”

Rapp said the area may see a rise in reported cases because of an increase in testing capabilities.

“More cases are also possible we begin to re-open and people will have more interactions then they did during when they were staying at home,” she said.

She said a more comprehensive community-based testing plan will be rolled out in the region over the next several months to coincide with state and federal recommendations.
