
The McDonough County Health Department announced on Saturday the deaths of two McDonough County residents who tested positive for coronavirus disease earlier this month.
Health officials say the victims are a female in her 50s and a female in her 80s.
A death certificate that lists COVID-19 disease or SARS-CoV-2 as a cause of death, or a significant condition contributing to death, is counted as a COVID-19 death in accordance with the Illinois Department of Public Health’s Vital Records.
The McDonough County recovered case count stands at 42 of 88 positive COVID-19 cases.
Recovered is defined by CDC as resolution of fever without fever-reducing medications for 3 days (72 hours), improvement of respiratory symptoms, and at least 10 days have passed since symptoms first appeared.
