PIERRE, S.D. — The number of positive COVID-19 cases in South Dakota reached 1,094 as of Sunday, May 31, according to health officials.
Three new deaths were reported Saturday, May 30, by the South Dakota Department of Health. No new deaths were reported Sunday, leaving the death toll at 62.
Edmunds County confirmed its first COVID-19 positive case over the weekend.
Since the start of the pandemic, 4,993 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in the state and 3,837 have recovered.
Seven people with COVID-19 are no longer hospitalized, leaving 86 patients in hospitals as of Sunday.
Officers only showed up to the rally about an hour after it started to tell protesters to continue moving through town and stop blocking the intersection of State Street and Divide Avenue, a busy junction near the North Dakota Capitol building. Within minutes, demonstrators heeded the officers’ commands and started back toward downtown.
